Rojan Bagheri (b. 1995) is an up-and-coming Iranian artist based in Tehran. She holds a Bachelor's degree in painting from Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz and a Master's in painting from Sooreh University of Tehran. Bagheri has showcased her works in numerous group exhibitions.
In her "Lost Paradise: Lilith" series, she offers a captivating reinterpretation of the biblical figure of Lilith. Often overlooked or demonized in traditional narratives, Lilith becomes a central figure in Bagheri's work, symbolizing female agency and resilience, challenging traditional gender roles, and offering a feminist perspective.
While occasionally referencing famous paintings from Western art history, Bagheri's works are deeply influenced by Iranian traditional painting. She employs flat colors, vertical compositions with a bottom-to-top reading, and a masterful use of simultaneous spaces to illustrate a heavenly setting for her narratives. Water is also a crucial element in her work as a recurring motif, serving not merely as a backdrop but as a character in its own right that adds layers of complexity to her compositions.
